Whether you are a seasoned traveler or a first timer, there are always ways to make your trip go a little more smoothly. Here are my top five travel tips to help you make the most of your time away:
1. Choose the Right
Vacation. What type of trip are you
looking for? A few days on a beach,
doing nothing but sipping mohitos?
Perhaps a solo trip focusing on wellness and a little down time? Maybe something a little more adventurous,
like hiking in Central America? Once you
narrow down what kind of trip you want, the planning is much easier and you
will enjoy your vacation so much more.
2. Work with a Travel Agent. They are the experts with a wealth of resources and experience to make the recommendations for your perfect trip. A good Travel Agent will advise on every aspect of your trip – from the destination and what you need to get there hassle-free.
3.
Pack Light!
It’s so tempting to bring ‘just in case’ clothing, but it will
likely end up weighing your bag down. No
matter your trip type, consider versatile clothing in neutral tones (black,
white, tan) so it can be worn for different occasions and dress up any outfit
with a colourful scarf.
Side note: a scarf is the most versatile piece you can
pack – never leave home without one.
Packing light is
a skill but it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style or comfort. Extra top tip: spread everything you want to bring on
your bed, and then half it.
Need a packing
list? Your Travel Agent will be able to
help you out.
4. Learn your Destination. Now that you’re booked, it’s time to do a little more research. Every good traveler should learn about their destination – the customs, language, and history. What is acceptable in one country may be frowned upon in another. Some typical habits we have in the west may be an arrestable office in some countries.
Also, taking the
time to learn few key phrases of the local language will enhance your
trip. You don’t need to be fluent, but
knowing a little bit will get you a long way.
5. Pack the Right Mindset. The saying ‘attitude is everything’ could not be truer when it comes to traveling. It’s possible you will be completely out of your comfort zone, and this is ok. This is one of the best aspects of traveling – the opportunity to experience of something different.
